MS 150 -- 2004

BBMOB Wins Awards at the 2004 MS Ride Celebration!
July 25, 2004

The post MS ride celebration was held on July 25th at Whitlow's on Wilson.  Many riders gathered to toast the success of the ride, which raised over $480,000 raised for the National MS Society Capital Chapter.

The Babes and Babe Magnets on Bikes (BBMOB) walked away from the evening with some first ever accomplishments.  After five years participating as a team, we hit an all time high of $35,487 raised. This put us in the "Five-Speed" fundraising category. We got a plaque for that.

We also received a plaque for being the largest friends and family team with 48 registered riders.  We are most proud of winning a plaque for raising the most money of the 50 registered teams.

Here's to the BBMOB and the MS Society for another successful fundraising year!

Report on the 2004 MS 150 Ride
May 25, 2004

What an amazing ride! The Babes and Babe Magnets on Bikes, which I like to call the BB MoB, joined 700+ riders in the ride to fight the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). For the first time in four years, we rode in sunshine under blue skies with warmth surrounding us for the entire ride, rather than riding covered in fleece and raingear with our eyes on the road the whole time.

A number of us were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of Virginia that escorted us the entire ride. We did the same route last year, but the weather conditions kept us from seeing the hills and small mountains that we were climbing, the flowing farm fields (slowly being taken over by vinyl sided houses with no trees), quaint towns, pre-Civil War stone walls, old barns, cows (even longhorns), frisky horses, and smushed roadkill. We enjoyed(?) the odors of spring flowers, manure, and diesel fumes from the trucks that sometimes get a little too close. Most of us can say, "We had an exhilarating and fulfilling two days."

Thank you to the 50 registered riders. We had 38 riders on Saturday and 20 on Sunday.
