Ed Begley, Jr., Ride

Friday 28 Nov 2008

Beth organized a ride on the day after Thanksgiving with Ed Begley, Jr.  The main group left from Bluemont and had a wonderful ride along the GW Parkway, over the Memorial Bridge, going past all the monuments and feeling lucky to be Washingtonians.

When we arrived at the meeting place on the mall, we were greeted by Joan, Althea, Dolly and Karen and eventually joined by Maya and her family. But no ED! We sent out scouts and wandered around trying to stay warm when finally a little white Prius shows up and out pops Ed Begley Jr. (St. Elsewhere, and most recently Gary Unmarried).

Eventually, we ended up escorting him around the mall along with about ten other riders who had gathered. He was very friendly and chatty and told us all about how ceiling fans keep us cool in the winter and circulate heat in the summer (reverse your fans), how important programmable thermostats are and how we can all use our bikes more for transportation, errands, etc. He got a real kick out of being escorted by the Babes on Bikes.
